Lessons from David and Goliath
By Dr. Michael R. Johnson
The story of David and Goliath is a favorite for many, especially for children’s Sunday school classes. Everyone likes it when the underdog wins the fight and the bad guy falls down. But David and Goliath is more than simply the heroic tale of a little shepherd boy facing a battle-hardened warrior. Romans 15:4 tells us why stories like this are in the Bible: “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” There are lessons to be learned for every Christian from this epic story.
